Who You Should Know

There are many important contacts for the undergraduate student in the School of Computer Science.

If you have questions or problems with your program, contact one of them.

The Undergraduate Student Society

The Society of Computing and Information Science (SOCIS) is the official student body representing BComp students on campus. They are located in the SOCS Student Centre (Reynolds 102) and their website is www.socis.ca.

Awards and Scholarships

Award descriptions are found in Section IX of the current Undergraduate Calendar. Simply look in the Bachelor of Computing section.

To discover which awards/scholarships you qualify for, answer two questions:

  1. Are you already a registered student?
    • If so, you want In-course type
    • If not, you want Entrance type
  2. Can you formally demonstrate "Financial Need"?
    • You would do this by filing in a Need Assessment Form with Student Financial Services (this can be done on-line)
    • Awards without the "Financial Need" requirement are called merit awards. Anyone can apply for them, but note their criteria which can be highly targeted.

You can also use the awards search engine.

Pay attention to which awards require an application and what the deadline is. Every year some awards go unclaimed simply because no one applied!
