Short Biography
 
Mieso Denko received his BSc degree in Statistics & Mathematics from the Addis Ababa University. He received his MSc degree form the University of Wales, UK, and his PhD degree from the University of Natal, South Africa, both in Computer Science. Since November 2002, Dr. Denko has been with the Department of Computing and Information Science (CIS), University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, where he is now an Associate Professor. His research interests cover many aspects of computer networks and pervasive computing with focus on wireless networks and mobile & pervasive computing. His current research interests include wireless ad hoc networks, wireless mesh networks, wireless sensor networks, pervasive/ubiquitous computing and networking. In addition to his teaching responsibilities at CIS, Dr. Denko also teaches in the Applied Computing and Wireless Telecommunications Technology Program at the University of Guelph-Humber, Toronto, Ontario. In 2006, he won the GHSA Computing Professor of the year award at the University of Guelph-Humber.
Dr. Denko has been actively involved in various professional services as organizer/co-organizer of international Conferences, Symposiums and Workshops as well as TPC member. He is editorial board member and reviewer of a number of international journals. He has edited/co-edited books in the areas of pervasive/ubiquitous computing, autonomic networks and wireless networks. Dr. Denko has received the Outstanding Service Awards as Symposium Chair and as Local Chair of the IEEE 21st International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications (AINA-07), 21-23 May 2007,Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. He has also received an Outstanding Service Award as Workshop Co-chair of the IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Embedded and Ubiquitous Computing (EUC-07), 17-20 December 2007, Taipei, Taiwan.
Dr. Denko is a senior member of the ACM and IEEE and the current Vice-chair of IFIP TC6 WG6.9. He is a member ACM SIGMOBILE, IEEE Communications and IEEE Computer Societies.
